Suicidal? Depressed? Please read …
Feb 29th, 2008 by spaceagesage
I have been randomly reading a number of posts since starting my blog a week ago, and it seems many people are journaling the hurts of their inner and outer world on the pages of WordPress.com. I wrote the short poem below today — 2-29-08 — in response to what I have read here at WordPress.com, in the hopes, dear reader, you realize we are not all lost islands.
The Light
The darkness called;
I followed, falling,
down into the underneath,
and lay ripped, shredded, torn.
In pain wracked, I reeked,
oozing bile-filled blood.
The darkness played music,
of fear and self-hatred,
until I danced ugly to the tune.
I heard my voice screaming,
“Give me one, not-dark thing!”
And there it was.
A pen-thin beam of sunlight,
stabbing the darkness.
Its smallness did not matter,
because its strength was in its source.
I followed the beam, eyes only for it,
until the darkness fell behind,
Soon came the sun, healing and warm.
I sat down and cried, releasing it all.

Thank you for sharing this work for those that may find themselves in this place. Following is a posting from my site: http://www.wordsuponmystone.wordpress.com that renders a similiar message of hope. Even though it is more Christian centered rather than New Age, the message is the same, with the desire to help others, on both our parts, …..our motivation.
“Yea, Throught the Grace of God, Go I” copyright 2005 by John J. Rigo “Roses Amidst Thorns”
I have been where you are,
a hell of loneliness and despair.
Had I created this place in my past,
as you are now, where I was was?
I ask myself what pains cross your mind,
as this day of many comes to you?
Do you hunger?
Are you without sleep?
The night only brings fear for your life.
Are you without anyone who cares
where you are this day?
Are you missed?
I, too, have been where you are.
From ashes of the mind did thou raise me,
from a pit of worldly hell.
It was not my talents of mind
nor spirit that lead me from this dark world.
It was my prayers.
You never failed to hear me,
when I cried out to you.
When I tried to end this life,
You spoke gently to me,
asking me to be patient
and wait one more day.
One day lead to another.
Finally, the sun began to shine again,
in Your blessings and Your love for me.
Thank you Lord,
for giving hope to the hopeless,
as You gave to me
Thank you Lord,
for loving me when I was without love.
Yea, Lord, without Your grace,
would I now be lost.
Thank you for your comment. I have found my journey to God, my relationship with Jesus, and my interaction with the Holy Spirit to be one so free as to embrace many things termed, “New Age.” To me, it is about discernment and love and the application of both with ever-improving character. If you continued to read my posts, you will see it all woven together, hopefully minus the blaming and finger-pointing, minus drawing lines in the sand, and minus the need to limit God to “you say, I say.”
Thank you for posting this poem on my blog, it made me think and brightened my day slightly knowing that I’m not alone and that there is hope.
fadingstar86 — Thanks for dropping in to my blog, and I am glad the poem helped brighten your day. Hope is some amazing stuff — may it burst into your life brightly and powerfully!
