Popcorn blessings

After a few days of low energy, some interesting things happened to bring me around to my more positive self.
First, I heard a radio personality talking about how a strong body language is grounded in correct posture. He said visualize a little thread running along the spine and out through the top of your head. Now imagine someone gently lifting the string to straighten your body out. This works for sitting or standing. Researching the concept a little more, I found this online:
“Keeping your head straight and level both vertically and horizontally will make you feel better, because it automatically releases endorphins in the body.”
I tried both and they worked to boost my inner sense of well being. I just had to put a loose rubber band on my wrist to remind myself to follow the advice because the low energy made me want to slump a little.
Second, after having a better day, I decided to fix myself some microwave popcorn. My mom was in her room watching TV, and my husband was in the home office, so I sat on the couch in the living room with the cats nearby and looked down at the bowl full of popcorn. Usually I stuff my face mindlessly with popcorn while watching TV but something stopped me. I decided to not turn on the TV. Instead I took one piece of popcorn at a time, and for each piece I thought of a blessing in my life. God, husband, family, living in abundant America, nature’s beauty, cats, etc., came rather quickly to mind. Then I realized I had also received very meaningful strengths and insights from past adversity I had undergone. I saw it was even a blessing to be able to see those tough moments as blessings. It helped me let go of some resentments associated with those times and the people involved.
I slept soundly and restfully all through the night and didn’t have a single dream about moving. Even the cats left me alone to slumber peacefully, minus their nightly rompings.
Isn’t it amazing what we can do without a TV?
TV, in general, yes. Sci Fi on TV or anywhere? Never!
My mother learned her good posture from that imaginary thread trick. She keeps trying to get me to do the same… but I always forget about it. 😉
Hello, Rose! Thanks for the comment. Maybe little reminders at home and in the car will help? I just like the way I feel when I align the spine and head that way, so it is worth it to me to make it a habit.
