Be the change …

The divisiveness during presidential election times astonishes me. How can so many people speak horrendously vile gossip, write such hateful diatribes, and push - sometimes violently - their agendas? I understand passion, zeal, and standing up for what you believe in, but I doubt a person’s sense of justice when hate, violence, or defamation is their currency of choice in getting a point across. My husband has a saying that sums it up for me: “You cannot honor one person by dishonoring another.”
Can’t we all just get along?
Well, that is naive, I know. A friend of mine ran for a local political office just a few years ago, and someone threatened her teenage kids and elderly mom to scare her into backing out (she didn’t), so I can’t imagine what the presidential candidates and their running mates’ families have to endure.

We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations. ~ Anais Nin ~
