Short Version: Tutorials and insights about changing your life
The SpaceAgeSage blog is about change. Do you want to become a better person? Welcome. Do you want to find more fulfillment, more confidence, more ability to create change in your world? Then please enjoy my posts as I challenge you with distilled and encapsulated versions of wisdom gained from ancient texts to modern self-help books. Expect pithy, not superficial. Many great sites exist with short snippets of “motivational blog coffee” and quick hits of positive thinking. This is not such a site, because SpaceAgeSage is about your heart, your mind, and your transformation.
~ The first steps toward change lift our spirit, super-charge our heart,
and uncover our talents. We all can change. It is the nature of being human. ~

Long Version:
Upon this gifted age, in its dark hour,
Rains from the sky a meteoric shower
Of facts . . . they lie unquestioned, uncombined.
Wisdom enough to leech us of our ill
Is daily spun, but there exists no loom
To weave it into fabric.
Edna St. Vincent Millay
The SpaceAgeSage Blog is about searching for the loom Edna St. Vincent Millay writes of in her poem.
For most of my 48 years on this planet, I have read and studied a great deal into what you could call The Nature of Things. Even as a kid, people remember me asking questions in intellectual and analytical ways. I have always been driven to know the whys and hows of life, and in later years, I have focused more on gaining wisdom.
Hampering me along the way — or so I thought — has been a chronic depression. Little did I know, though, that it has really been a gift. After exhausting modern medicine, alternative medicine, and any other medicine I could find, I found God directing me more and more to check into the power of the mind to heal itself.
Over the last 14 years of our marriage, my loving husband and I investigated EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique); EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing); NLP (Neuro-Linguistics Programming); and a few other leading edge therapies that also often get boiled down to a few letters of the alphabet.
None of this was easy, because we had both had recently left a cult filled with legalism (dos and don’ts as a way of life), but remained fairly mainstream in our understanding of God, life, the universe and everything. Most of mainstream Christianity — I am talking Bible Belt kind of thinking — sees those listed therapies as “dangerous.”
Balancing on a sword edge between what our long-standing religiosity considered dangerous and our following the promptings of the Holy Spirit, my husband and I traveled an amazing road of discovery into the Nature of God.
Many authors contributed to our new relationship with God. I am listing some books and media below, but it was by using our current understanding of God’s wisdom to pick pieces from all of these and testing them against the counsel of the Bible that we have grown. God has always spoken to my husband and I this way — spiritually highlighting for us a passage in a book, a line in a movie, a section of a song, or by using teaching moments from nature.
Recent books and media I have read fully or just studied specific passages from:
- The Power of Intention, by Dr. Wayne Dyer, as well as his Hay House Web Radio Talk Show and his PBS aired programs about Intention and about the Tao Te Ching
- The Tao Te Ching by Lao tzu
- Boundaries, by Henry Cloud and John Townsend
- You Can Heal Your Life, by Louise Hay
- Decipher Your Dreams, Decipher Your Life, by Tianna Galgano
- Dr. Marcia Emery’s Intuition Workbook: An Expert’s Guide to Unlocking the Wisdom of Your Subconscious Mind
- What is so Amazing About Grace?, by Philip Yancy
- Wild at Heart and Waking the Dead, by John Eldredge
- Radical Collaboration, by James Tamm and Ronald Luyet
- Facing your Giants, by Max Lucado
- Leadership and Self Deception, by the Arbinger Institute
- Leadership, Promises for Every Day (a daily devotional) & The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader by John C. Maxwell
- The Wisdom of the Enneagram, authors Don Riso and Russ Hudson
- Getting Them to Give a Damn: How to Get Your Front Line to Care about Your Bottom Line & Employing Generation WHY, by Eric Chester
- The Verbally Abusive Relationship: How to Recognize it and How to Respond, by Patricia Evans
I also read the Bible most days these days, either NIV, The Message, or NKJ versions.
In this blog, I will write about what I have learned and how I am applying it to my life.
Thanks for sharing it with me!

dratgosy — Thanks! Photo is of the flatter part of Colorado and it makes me feel the same way — past, present, and future all rolled into one with endless possibilities awaiting.
Where in CO? I was born in Fort Collins.
A friend of mine took the photo. She lives in Colorado Springs. Guess she went out HWY 24 east from there to take some photos one day and got this one.
Happened across this blog using “Tag Surfer”. Lucky me. I can tell you have a lot of value to share. Thanks for sharing.
Love the quote.
Hello,
With all due respect, may I suggest only one thing for your blog site. If you may, I suggest you to please change the header image into something bright image which would better help you to enhance the blog itself.
Thank you.
“United Voices” — thanks for the input! I agree something better could be put up. I will change it out today. Also, so you know, I am having someone re-design the site so the header incorporates my blog name in much more pleasing and inviting ways.
Do you know ‘The Law of Attraction’ from Esther and Jerry Hicks?
Hi Barbara —
Nope, never read it, but understand a lot about Intention and the like.
