Challenge given; challenge taken: Wisdom in 25 words
Jul 16th, 2008 by spaceagesage
One of my favorite bloggers Liz Strauss at Successful Blog challenged her readers recently in a post to put 25 words of advice or wisdom into one of our posts. I thought I’d take a quick break from my series on Overcoming Insecurity to answer her challenge. As I have told her, though, I am a bit of an overachiever, so here are four, 25-word snippets of wisdom:
- Underneath our pain, difficulties, and struggles, our heart yearns for release. Embracing the tough stuff without sweating the small stuff — that is freedom’s path.
.
- Wisdom in 25 words? Value adversity, learn to laugh at yourself, release everyone from expectations, carry your own load, and share your burdens with others.
..
- Life is too long not to make it a worthy journey. Release past pain and future worries, and relish this moment right here, right now.
.
- What frees a closed mind? Love and acceptance steadfastly offered — no strings attached, no expectations, no guilt. A heart of love opens all doors.

“Life is too long not to make it a worthy journey.” — Lori
It’s the journey that makes it worth living to begin with… I mean having a destination is great. But isn’t it the journey that most impacts us?
Ricardo — Thanks for your comment! Life is a journey in and of itself. My words are about taking that journey in a way that makes you look back from death’s door and say, “Wow, what a great life I’ve had!” Yes, life’s journey can impact us in amazing ways, but it is our choices along the way that give us depth and character and that make the journey positive or negative.
I am so glad that you accepted Liz’s challenges. Your words are beautiful and uplifting. Thank you so much for sharing them!
Karen —
Thank you for your kind words and for leaving a comment! I saw from your blog that you understand the value of adversity, too. I prefer learning “the easy way” by gaining insight from others’ mistakes, but sometimes tough moments come along to build us from the inside out.
These are all glorious! I’m so taken by the last one, though. It’s ringing in my ears. 🙂
Liz,
I am honored by your words. Thank you!
